What's new in Opera?
Opera 3.71
The release of Opera (3.71) supports the forthcoming Cross Border VAT Changes coming into force in January 2010. Please be advised that Opera (3.71) is not supported on Windows 7.
What are the Cross Border VAT Changes?
As of 1 January 2010 it will be a legislative requirement for a UK VAT registered business to declare any intra-EC services that they supply to a VAT registered customer in the EC on the EC Sales List (ESL – VAT 101 form). The EU Legislation changes affect the following buisnesses:
- UK businesses that supply services to EU member countries are now required to submit details of the service on the EC Sales List
- UK businesses that receive services from EU member countries will need to account for the service and update their VAT Return using the rules of the new legislation (Reverse Charge)
- UK businesses required to submit ESL (EC Sales Lists) must decide whether they need to commit returns for Services on a monthly or quarterly basis

Opera End of Life Announcement
January 2009: At Pegasus, we have continued supporting Opera for as long as possible. Due to a number of factors beyond our control; increased complexity of payroll legislation, an obligation to remain compliant with HMRC and the pace of advanced technology, we have been forced to make a difficult decision: Opera Payroll and Opera will cease to be supported in 2010. Key dates for you to be aware of are:
- Opera Payroll: support will cease for Opera Payroll on 31 March 2010, so there will be no Opera Payroll upgrade for the 2010/2011 tax year
- Opera: support will cease on 30 September 2010
